ABOUT BOUNDARIES - BEHAVIOR - AND THE DISCRIMINATION CARD
● Today was once again a day where GeWoon DOEN was celebrated at its fullest.
We will not go further into that; most people had an absolutely great time. Thank you all for your visit.
However, the Team would like to address a social issue today.
Not because we enjoy discussion, but because we increasingly see a pattern where people, when confronted with their own behavior, try to hide behind accusations of discrimination.
And that is exactly where we draw a very clear line.
The Netherlands is a beautiful country. We live here with people from around two hundred different nationalities. We think that is something wonderful, because the foundation of our SeksBioscoop GeWoon in Roosendaal has remained exactly the same for over thirty years.
Love for humanity.
Nothing more... but certainly nothing less.
Everyone is welcome. Truly everyone.
In fact, we do not look at where someone comes from. We look at the person.
However, we apply two rules that no one can bypass.
The first is very simple.
Be kind.
That essentially means that you make a personal commitment to never be a burden to anyone else.
The second rule is just as important.
You must be able to communicate properly in Dutch or English. And when I (Mark) am present, Spanish is of course also fine.
Why?
Because sex may be one of the most vulnerable “games” that adults can play together.
In that context, people must be able to understand each other.
Boundaries must be clearly communicated.
And it must be understood when someone says “no”, is uncertain, or is enthusiastic.
That is exactly why we stand for the mental and physical freedom of every visitor, and especially for all women.
We do not compromise on that.
● Today we received a visitor from Yellowland.
For clarity...
The inhabitants of Yellowland are easy to recognize.
Bright yellow hair.
Bright yellow eyebrows.
Yellow eyes.
Yellow lips.
The man spoke Dutch at about a 6 out of 10 level.
Fine.
People from Yellowland are also very welcome here.
The Team therefore gave him a fair chance to show that he understood GeWoon DOEN.
Less than half an hour later, a Team member saw him repeatedly standing near the door of a changing room, listening to whether the couple inside would finally come out.
Anyone who knows GeWoon DOEN understands that this is immediately code red.
Shortly afterwards, the first complaints came in.
Eventually, even a visitor decided to leave because of this man’s behavior.
That is unacceptable to us.
Not because it is about sex.
But precisely because GeWoon DOEN is not about sex at all.
● GeWoon DOEN is about love for humanity.
From that, trust arises.
From that, beautiful conversations arise.
From that, recognition arises.
From that, self-confidence grows.
From that, mental and physical freedom emerges.
And oh yes...
Sex may even arise from it.
But that is not the beginning.
It is at most a possible consequence.
THAT is the order.
And that is exactly why we guard that order every single day.
● The Team member therefore immediately asked the man to leave the premises.
And then something happened that truly leaves us speechless.
The man claimed that we were discriminating.
That people from Yellowland would not be welcome here.
No.
Wrong.
You are welcome.
Everyone from Yellowland is welcome.
Everyone from any country is welcome.
Anyone who believes that origin plays a role here has not understood our two rules.
We do not judge people by their origin.
We judge people by their behavior.
We have done so for over thirty years...
and we will continue to do so.
It is truly outrageous to hide your own behavior behind an accusation of discrimination.
We do not participate in that.
Not for a second.
● Therefore, from today onwards, we make our standards crystal clear once again.
Are you kind and have you committed yourself to never being a burden to anyone?
Can you communicate properly in Dutch or English? And when I am present, also in Spanish?
Can you have a normal, friendly conversation upon arrival?
Only answering “yes” or “no” is simply not enough.
And please do not come with translation apps.
They do not work in our four playrooms, and phones are not allowed there anyway.
Running a venue where people voluntarily have sex with each other is something completely different from running a restaurant.
In a restaurant, someone might eat with their hands instead of cutlery.
Here, hands can touch someone without consent.
That difference is literally the difference between etiquette and a potentially criminal act.
Our rules are not designed to exclude people.
They are designed to give loving people the freedom to be completely themselves.
● We will not allow people like this to throw us off course.
We have built something together
that we are incredibly proud of.A place where people are allowed to be themselves.
Where trust matters more than speed.
Where conversation matters more than sex.
And where love for humanity still comes first.
Tomorrow afternoon we will once again celebrate a wonderful Naked Monday.
